Royal family of lifesaving

Line dancing at the Barracks opened it; Mari & Paul's spa closed it. In between: a stingray and a shark alarm on 2 November, a 42-degree morning when even the seagull stopped flying, Christmas Day sand sculptures, Coolangatta Gold medals, three National Medals and a new SSV after the last one went for a swim.

  • First patrol Mon 6 Oct — first rescue of the season, and a shark sighting
  • 2 Nov — stingray injury treated; shark alarm just after pack-up
  • 20 Dec — shoulder to shoulder at the water's edge
  • Christmas Day — 'already the best tent set-up of the season'
  • 12 Apr — a fin chop before the trailer was even open; kitchen spoons as post clips
  • End of season at Château Notaras, 2 May — the Golden Whistle goes to Anthony

Saturday 20 December 2025, 8am. After the tragedy at Bondi, clubs across Australia lined up at the water's edge in patrol uniform and stood shoulder to shoulder for three minutes' silence. P14 was there.

The only shark P14 allows

The season of the SSV operators, the naughty list, the chicken sandwiches and the Department of Patrol Efficiency. International Women's Day brought the inflatable sharks; Laura blew her last whistle and left for LA; Alex and Claude went nine for nine.

  • 13 Oct — Camille's birthday patrol; pack-up at 17:03
  • 12 Nov — new SSV operators, bogged only once
  • 28 Dec — the snail wins the pastry poll; party at Mari & Paul's
  • 8 Mar — International Women's Day, and who let the sharks out
  • 5 Apr — the Mars outpost manages the tourist epidemic
  • 26 Apr — Laura's farewell: 'whistle out'

  • 20 Jan — 'How many points is this worth?' — the game begins
  • 4 Feb — the Cole Classic
  • 1 Apr — IRB search and rescue with water police and chopper
  • 25 Apr — Anzac Day, Zoe's first patrol, patrol picnics
